Having Verses Being

"Most people believe that if they "have" a thing (more time, money, love - whatever) then they can finally "do" a thing (write a book, take up a hobby, go on vacation, buy a home, undertake a relationship), which will enable them to "be" a thing (happy, peaceful, content, or in love).

In actuality, they are reversing the Be-Do-Have paradigm. In the Universe as it really is (as opposed to how you think it is), "havingness" does not produce "beingness", but the other way around.

First you "be" the thing called "happy" (or "knowing", or "wise", or "compassionate", or whatever) then you start "doing" things from this place of beingness - and soon you discover that what you are doing winds up bringing you the things you've always wanted to "have."

The way to set this creative process (and that's what this is ... the process of creation) into motion is to look at…

Truly Successful

True success is based not on how obnoxious you can be, but on how helpful and valuable you can make yourself. True success is based not on how hateful of spiteful you can be, but on how much love you can inspire.

True success is based not on how much glamour you can project, but on how much beauty you can see and appreciate. True success is based not on how much you can take, but on the real value you are able to create.

When everything you do is all about you, then nothing you do will really matter. Even if you drive the most intimidating vehicle on the road, and have the most prestigious address in town, life will be empty if you are the only person you truly care about.

Being absorbed only with yourself is the quickest route to misery. In contrast, the more genuine consideration you have for others, the more blessed your life will be.

Before you act, think of how your actions will affect others. Seek to make a positive difference for the people around you, and you'll find real, las…

Unemployed Graduate

An unemployed graduate woke up one morning and checked his pocket. All he had left was $10. He decided to use it to buy food and then wait for death as he was too proud to go begging. He was frustrated as he could find no job, and nobody was ready to help him.

He bought food and as he sat down to eat, an old man and two little children came along and asked him to help them with food as they had not eaten for almost a week. He looked at them. They were so lean that he could see their bones coming out. Their eyes had gone into the socket.

With the last bit of compassion he had, he gave them the food. The old man and children prayed that God would bless and prosper him and then gave him a very old coin.

The young graduate said to them "you need the prayer more than I do".

With no money, no job, no food, the young graduate went under the bridge to rest and wait for death. As he was about to sleep, he saw an old newspaper on the ground. He picked it up, and suddenly he saw an ad vert…

Love Energy

How many times have we heard stories about famous people who seemed to have everything going for them, yet whose lives spun totally out of control -- sometimes even driving them to suicide?

A person can easily spend years striving for success for all the wrong reasons. When I was in my twenties the driving force behind my desire to be a guitarist was the need to draw attention to myself. I believed that attention would lead to love and that would lead to happiness.
It was a totally flawed plan, yet so many people live their lives using just that blueprint.

They work and work so that they will be loved, yet they have no time for love! If you achieve great wealth at the expense of your health, what do you have?
If you acquire power and fame, yet you never see your children, what do you have?
If your career becomes more important than your wife or husband, what do you have?
Wouldn't you rather be broke and have a house full of love than have lots of money and no love?

A house without love h…

The Planetary Awakening Network

I'd like to introduce you to a network of networks for the expansion of consciousness and the sharing of ideas and resources. It will be of special interest for all of you who follow the path of consciousness ...The Planetary Awakening Network ...... came into being in April 1998 as an international coalition of networks. PAN was started by Michael Lightweaver, who recently stepped down and passed on the stewardship of PAN to Maggie Erotokritou. The original purpose of PAN was to create an international emergency alert system in which participants could use their interdimensional skills to help bring about healing for planetary crisis situations. From that beginning point the network has developed and evolved as an e-mail based international communication network for the exchange of ideas, resources and information amongst those involved in consciousness raising activities.

Understanding the Power of Reaching Critical Mass

There is a phenomenon that is causing awakening Humanity to feel frustrated and powerless over the challenges surfacing to be healed in all of our lives at this time.
When we awaken and begin to understand the power of our creative faculties of thought and feeling, we attempt to control our behavior patterns in order to improve our lives. We put forth the effort to think positively, and we strive to focus our attention on what we want to manifest in our lives instead of empowering our fears and what we do not want to create. Daily we envision the lives we would love to live, and we work to empower our visions with positive thoughts and affirmations.

But often, after what seems like a valiant effort, we continue to experience many of our old problems.
This causes us to become discouraged and to lose trust in our ability to change our lives. At this point, we feel like our efforts are futile, and we usually give up on trying to improve our situations. We let go of our visions and regress b…

Quotes For Thought

Where there is true oneness,
there is no distinction of self and other.

Where there is real wisdom,
there is no need to scheme and plan.Source/Submitted by: Zhuang ZiHow do you like 'SomethingToThinkAbout'? Would you like to submit a posting? Pleaseemailus.

To Reawaken and Keep Ourselves Awake

We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake,
not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep.

I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor.

It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful;
but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do.

To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.Source/Submitted by: Henry David Thoreau, AuthorHow do you like 'SomethingToThinkAbout'? Would you like to submit a posting? Pleaseemailus.

The correct Way to Live

Work as if you would not need any money.
Love as if you never would have been hurt.
Dance as if nobody would watch you.
Sing as if nobody would listen.
Live as if you would experience heaven on earth.Source/Submitted by: Angela Trichtl / Angelas-WesenanalyseHow do you like 'SomethingToThinkAbout'? Would you like to submit a posting? Pleaseemailus.

The source of life is Love. Love brings fullness of life.

Life becomes real when one comes to know Love.

If man does not understand Love, he cannot understand life. If he does not understand life, he cannot understand time, in which life flows as a continuous process. And if he does not understand time, he will lose the musical rhythm of life and fall into a series of inharmonious conditions, which will cause him much unhappiness.

The greatest thing besides Love is life. Life is the fruit of Love. However, Love and life are not one and the same. In life there are two processes in constant action: one is the process of construction, and the other is the process of destruction.

In Love, these two processes do not exist. Love is something pure and unified. In life, however, there is differentiation.

Life without love has no meaning. Such a life is a chain of suffering, of successive failings and risings. Life cannot manifest itself without Love.
There is no life without Love.

God's Love Translated Into Today's World

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.
He sends you a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He listens.

He can live anywhere in the universe, but He chose your heart.
Face it friend, He is crazy about you!

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Good Friends are like Stars

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, one will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her bridle is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As one stands and watches these two friends, one sees how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges.

He watches over us and e…

Let the life begin to stir

Do not fight against circumstances.
Your face ought to shine.
Your spirit ought to be tranquil.
Your eye ought to be clear.
Your nerves ought to be steady.

With these, press through the tasks of your most common day.
Live as finely and beautifully in private as in the open glare of the world's noon.
Train yourself to work under the Divine eye and stand the Divine inspection.
Let the life begin to stir from the innermost depths and richly yield its true measure of joyfulness.
